Newton’s laws of motion.
1) A particle will remain at rest or will continue to move with constant velocity in a straight
line unless acted on by a resultant force.
2) For a particle with constant mass, m kg, the resultant force F N acting on the particle and
its acceleration a m s-2 satisfy the equation F = m a.
3) If a body A exerts a force on a body B then body B exerts an equal force on body A but in
the opposite direction.
